How snowmobile insurance protects you*
Your Vehicle
Unless you can afford to replace or repair your snowmobile out-of-pocket, you’ll need insurance to help protect it from collisions, fire, theft and more1
Liability claims
Helps to protect you financially if you injure someone or cause damage to another person’s property or vehicle while riding your snowmobile.
Accident Benefits
If you’re injured in an accident, this coverage helps to replace lost income or pay for medical and other expenses not covered by government health insurance.
It can also provide benefits to your spouse or partner and dependent children if you are killed in an accident.
(Coverage is optional in Quebec and Newfoundland)
Uninsured Motorists
This coverage provides benefits to you or your family if you’re injured or killed by an uninsured or unidentified driver.
It also helps pay for damages to your snowmobile if they’re caused by an unidentified or uninsured motorist.

Eligible snowmobiles
All standard, touring, sport and mountain snowmobiles are eligible for coverage through RBC Insurance, except for what’s listed below.
The following snowmobiles are not eligible for coverage:
- Children’s snowmobiles under 200cc
- Snowmobiles over 1200cc
- Snowmobiles modified for performance
- Snowmobiles valued over $50,000, including accessories but excluding tax
- Snowmobiles that carry more than two passengers
- Snowmobiles that are similar to a motorcycle but have been modified for use on snow (such as Snow Hawk, Hawk Jr., or Monoski)
- Snowmobiles that are used for business or commercial use
- Snowmobiles where the operator does not hold a valid driver’s license or has not completed an examination on snow vehicle safety accredited by the Snowmobile Association
- Protects you and your vehicle (if you add coverage for loss or damage) financially against a wide range of risks.
- Add optional protection for accessories, equipment, riding gear and trailers for your snowmobile.
